Register for Kindergarten
Welcome to Hood River County School District! It's Kindergarten Roundup Week May 1 - 5, 2017!
Our Kindergarten classes are ready for your five-year old in the fall. We provide full-day kindergarten, with engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction planned especially for the active learning capacity of your young child. Children who will be five years old on or before September 1st may enroll for kindergarten.
It is time to register your kindergarten child at your neighborhood school during Roundup Week.
Cascade Locks 7 am - 3 pm plus a parent open house on May 9 at 5:30 pm
Here is what we offer:
Outstanding Full Day Kindergarten: We are proud to offer an excellent full-day kindergarten program in all of our five elementary schools. Our teachers are all highly qualified; our facilities are planned to provide quality space to learn and our developmentally appropriate curriculum is matched to state and national standards. The diversity of our students and staff prepare our students for the multicultural world in which they will live and work.
Music, Art, PE and Library: Our kindergarteners are taught both PE and music by licensed classroom teachers. Our school libraries provide great material to encourage students to become readers. Artists-in-residence supplement discipline-based art instruction in our classrooms.
Special Services: Our schools provide child development specialists (counselors), school psychologists, special education teachers, speech-language therapists, physical and occupational therapists, and reading specialists on staff at no cost to parents for children who are eligible for these services.
Meals: Our schools participate in the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs. Nutritious, low-cost meals are available daily. We offer free and reduced priced meals to qualifying applicants.
After School Programs: All of our elementary schools offer after-school programs for a minimal fee. Days and times vary by school.
Please Visit: Parents of incoming students are welcome to schedule a school visit in order to acquaint themselves with the school. Please make arrangements in advance with the school secretary in order to ensure staff will be on hand to provide a tour and answer questions that you may have.
Be a Volunteer! We encourage parents or guardians to play an active part in their child"s education, in and out of the classroom. Volunteer opportunities provide you a chance to help your child get a great education.
