• Meet the Program Manager

Megan Ramey is the Safe Routes to School Manager for the school district. She is the mother of a HRCSD student and long-time advocate of childhood mobility and safe routes to school. You may recognize her with a train conductor hat, leading the bike train to May Street Elementary, a program that she started with the help of former Principal Kelly Beard and parent volunteers. She was active in the ODOT funded Planning Identification Process with the City of Hood River, which yielded this 92-page Safe Routes to School plan with over 30 infrastructure recommendations for May Street Elementary and Hood River Middle School and adopted by City Council. She is also on the board for Columbia Area Transit (CAT).

Megan, her husband, Kyle, and their daughter, Annika, have been walking and rolling around The Heights, where they live, since 2016.

Prior to moving to Hood River, she was a member of the Boston Bikes Advisory group to the Mayor, Cambridge Bike Committee, LivableStreets Alliance board and founded the 2-wheeled travel site, Bikabout.com. In August of 2022, she went through the training and testing to become a League of America Cyclists Certified Instructor to teach transportation biking to kids and adults.
