Position 2 - Benjamin Sheppard
Benjamin was born and raised on a small pear farm on the heights in Hood River. After graduating high school, he studied theatre arts and music at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, which led to a season at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He moved to Portland in 2010, and deepened his knowledge of the performing arts through regional theatre work, which included a summer theatre show for children in Yosemite National Park, improvisational and audience participation based comedies, dinner theatre, and musicals.
After meeting his to-be wife Toni, a graduate of Oregon College of Art and Craft, in 2012, the duo moved back to Hood River where Benjamin is employed as a Support Worker for adults in the special-needs community and is the co-founder, with Toni, of a not-for-profit art program - also for adults with special needs.
Benjamin is very involved in his community as a volunteer coach for Special Olympics, and a delivery driver for Meals on Wheels, he is a father to a two-year-old monkey-boy named Sebastian, who is the love of his life, and is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu under Alex Morningstar, also an HRVHS graduate. He attributes his love for theatre to Rachel Harry, and believes that providing the highest quality of education for all children, regardless of their background, is paramount to future prosperity.
