• Dear May Street Parents,

This is the time of year we see a steady rise in the number of students arriving late for school.  I know personally how challenging it can be to get a household moving in the morning.  It is not uncommon for Kim and Lindsy to receive 30 or 40 children late in the office.  This is nearly 10% or our student body.

Remember that the first few minutes of the day in a classroom are vital for your child.  The teacher is taking attendance, lunch count, collecting homework, previewing the day’s schedule, and getting an entire class prepared and engaged.

Students arriving late are not only missing critical time in the classroom, they are disrupting the rhythm and flow for everyone else as well.  School begins promptly at 7:40 AM so please plan your family’s morning accordingly.

    Thank you,

    Kelly Beard
