Position 6 - Mark Johnson
Mark Johnson is a long-time resident of Hood River. He grew up in the community of Parkdale and attended Hood River County schools from grade 1-12. After graduating from Whitworth College in Spokane, Mark moved back to Hood River with his wife, where he is currently a self-employed general contractor and state legislator.
Mark is currently serving his second term on the Hood River County School board where he previously served as board chairman.
Mark and his wife Melodi have three children, all three of which have graduated from Hood River Valley High School. Melodi works in the medical oncology field in the Gorge.
Mark is also serving his second term as the State Representative from House District 52. In 2011, Mark served on the House Higher Education Committee. For the 2013 Legislative Session, Mark serves on the House Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee.
In addition to his work on the school board and as a legislator, Mark has owned his own general contracting business in the area for over 25 years. When he's not working, he enjoys leading short-term mission groups to Guatemala to help with various construction and service projects.
