I graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA in 1987, and received my Masters of Art in Teaching in 1999 from Concordia University in Portland, OR. I also spent six months studying in Paris, France at the American College in Paris in 1986. I have been teaching at Westside Elementary since 2002. I also taught 6th grade for one year at HRMS.
I love 5th grade students for many reasons, including the depth we can delve into for all our subjects and their endless sense of humor. Many students may mention working in groups, interactive projects and my passion for story telling. My first love in teaching is writing, with social studies as a close runner up. I grew up in various countries, and love to share my experiences with students as we discuss world cultures.
Besides teaching, I love riding my mountain bike, swimming with the Masters Swim Team, traveling, and spending time with my family.
