Text: History Alive: The United States Through Industrialism
Course Overview
Students will develop an understanding of the connections between important concepts, ideas, people and events that have helped shape the history of the United States. Gaining insight into these past events can help students to better understand the country they live in and many of the forces that have shaped this nation. Through this process we will also be exploring major themes which help to build understanding about the way people interact throughout the world.
Grading Policy
Students will receive a grade each quarter based on total points. The points will be split between the following three categories:
Tests and Quizzes - Includes large unit tests and other smaller quizzes.
Projects/Papers - Projects and larger written assignments.
Assignments - Includes daily openers, notes, in-class work, and short writing assignments.
Student Expectations
Academic:
To complete all assignments, projects, papers, and tests. I encourage students to ask questions and come to me for help if they are struggling. Late work policy – 10% per day off earned score. Students can turn in work any time before the end of the quarter for half credit.
Behavior:
Disruptive, distracting and disrespectful actions will not be tolerated. I particularly stress that students be respectful of their classmates.
