f  Plan to store all college admissions passwords in a google doc account as well as in the "notes" section of your phone.  Please share your passwords with your parents.  Passwords to have on file at this time: SchooLinks username and password, Oregon CIS username and password, FSA ID/FAFSA username and password

Follow directions and instructions on the document.

    5. Get Ready for Federal Financial Aid

If you plan to apply for need-based aid, student and parent(s) together must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The application opens most years in early October. If you are applying for college starting 2024, the application opens December 2023. DO NOT COMPLETE the FAFSA before that time. In order to sign in, both student and parent(s) must have an FSAID.  An FSA ID is a username and password that gives you access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and can serve as your legal signature.

Many colleges have priority deadlines for scholarships and require that the FAFSA be submitted before then.  Please check the financial aid page of colleges you are applying to to determine that date.  For instance, the University of Oregon's priority filing date is March 1, 2022.
