ExCEL Program
Program Overview
Our goal is to provide students with a safe, welcoming, and engaging space after the school day. We build strong academic habits, encourage creativity, and support social-emotional growth through structured care and fun activities.
What Students Experience
- Academic support: Dedicated homework help, tutoring, and literacy/math skill-building led by caring staff
- Enrichment and hands-on learning: STEM projects, creative arts, and group challenges designed to make learning enjoyable
- Active recreation and wellness: Outdoor play, team games, and physical activities to unwind after the school day
- Family connection: Regular family events and opportunities to connect with your child's learning community
Grant Fund and Eligibility
Supported by federal funding: The ExCEL program is funded in whole by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, authorized under Title IV, Part B, through the U.S. Department of Education.
- Open to enrolled students in targeted grade levels, with priority given to families needing academic intervention and support
- Programming is provided at no cost to participating families
- Operating during after-school hours
- Space is limited by grant capacity guidelines.
- Programs are offered at Cascade Locks, Mid Valley, and Parkdale Elementary Schools as well as Wy'east Middle School. Please check with your school's main office about enrollment.
