Intentional Technology

Our school district recognizes the growing national conversation regarding children's screen use and the importance of developmentally appropriate technology practices for learners. Guidance from the U.S. Surgeon General and the American Academy of Pediatrics emphasizes that screen use for children should be purposeful, balanced, and connected to meaningful learning experiences. 

In our classrooms, we prioritize hands-on, collaborative, and interactive learning experiences that foster communication, creativity, problem-solving, and meaningful engagement with peers and teachers whenever possible. Technology is used to complement, not replace, these essential learning experiences. 

In our school district, iPads and digital tools are used strategically to reinforce core instruction, support differentiation, provide opportunities for creativity and communication, and strengthen school-home connections. The activities included in this guidance document are not used every day; rather, they are implemented intentionally at different times throughout the school year based on instructional units, learning goals, and student needs.
