I am very excited to be joining the Hood River Options Academy as the new principal.  I look forward to continuing the work done by Kelly Running and the staff at HROA to pursue excellence for every child every day.  Fortunately, I have some familiarity with the challenges and opportunities facing students at HROA, as I did work at options academy during the academic year of 2020-21.

Some of you know me as a science teacher at Hood River Valley High School from my 21 years teaching science there.  During that time, I predominantly taught life sciences like Biology, Honors Medical Biology, and AP Environmental Science.  Some may also know me as a youth sports coach, and I have coached youth from the youngest ages to high school varsity teams.  I’ve been lucky enough to work with youth in our community and throughout the gorge in sports like Nordic skiing, basketball, lacrosse, and soccer.   

I am proud to serve Hood River Valley School District in this new role and am very thankful for the teachers, counselors, coaches and other staff who worked with my two daughters for their entire careers here.
