In the Hood River County School District, strong community partnerships and support assures excellent services for students. Each of our county public schools provides a rich and varied curriculum, extra and co-curricular activities, as well as programs for families and community members thanks to the passage of a local option levy and capital bond. As a result, our school buildings are more energy efficient, safer and more user-friendly, and our academic and extracurricular offerings are more expansive than across the rest of the state. Our local option supports the equivalent of 20 teaching FTE; and our capital bond allows the district to maintain and improve its facilities and grounds while using its general operating dollars to put the best staff and programs in front of our students.

Among the many highlights, Hood River County Schools have:

• smaller-than-average class sizes, with more individual attention for each student;
• systemic enrichment and intervention courses throughout the K-12 system;
  • rigorous literacy and mathematics, integrated science, social-emotional instruction and support, music, technology and physical education in the elementary schools;
  • rigorous literacy and mathematics, engineering, foreign languages, conservation sciences, and performing arts in the middle schools;
  • a full range of advanced-placement and honors courses, dual college credit opportunities, career-technical subjects, well-established fine and performing arts, FFA, and state champion athletics programming;
• increased opportunities for professional growth, learning and collaboration for teachers, including Professional Learning Team activities on late start Mondays.

Students:

The school district has 505.9 full and part-time employees:

• Our teachers average 13.9 years experience in education. Teachers with a Master's Degree or higher: 72.2%.
• Our classified and administrative staff are important educators who support our excellent teachers in achieving our overarching district goal: "Every student graduates with the knowledge and courage to learn, serve and pursue their dreams."
