  • ASVAB Test/Career Choices

Does your student know what career he/she wants to pursue after high school?  The ASVAB test can help students decide their future goals.  The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a multi-aptitude test, consisting of 8 short individual tests covering Work Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, General Science, Mechanical Comprehension, Electronics Information, Numerical Operations, and Coding Speed. There is no passing/failing the test; it is for informational use only.

Deciding which college, trade school or military branch to pursue are key career decisions. The ASVAB results can help in making that decision.  The results provide information on their readiness for advanced academic education and what careers they might want to pursue.

The ASVAB test is free and this year it will be done in our computer lab and will not take as long.  The results are sent back to the school.  The military DOES NOT receive any test results for students whose parents opted them out at the beginning of the year.  A follow-up using an Exploring Careers Workbook can help students figure out what careers might best suit that individual.

The on-line test (available to sophomores, juniors and seniors) will be given December 12, 2018, and will start at 10:00; the test will take place in the computer lab.  Students need to sign up in the SUMMIT Career Center by December 10, 2018.  If you have any questions or would like to sign your student up, please call Wendy Herman in the SUMMIT Career Center at 541-387-5034 ext. 1, or e-mail
