Back-to-School Information

First Week of School Schedule

Elementary

Kindergarten: Family visits are on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Half of the kindergarten students will go to school on Wednesday, Sept. 2, and half will go to school on Thursday, Sept. 3. All kindergarten students' first day of school is Friday, Sept. 4. 

All elementary students, first through fifth grade, start school on Monday, Aug. 31.

Middle

Sixth grade: Sixth-grade and new students start on Monday, Aug. 31. Seventh- and eighth-grade students start on Tuesday, Sept. 1

High

Please watch for communication from Hood River Valley High School about the first week of school. 

*The start dates for incoming kindergarten, sixth-grade, and high school students may vary. Please watch for communication from your school principal.

Supplies

For our elementary and middle school families, we will be providing all supplies for students this school year. We are asking for a voluntary contribution of $25 per elementary student, $40 per middle school student, and $50 per high school student to help cover the cost of these grade- and teacher-specific supplies. Hood River Valley High School will be communicating its specific supply needs directly with families.

Meals

All Hood River County School District students receive free breakfast and lunch. For more information about school meals, please visit the nutrition services webpage.

Bus Routes

The school district provides transportation to all enrolled students if they need it. The bus routes are posted on the transportation webpage. To request transportation services, please complete the new student enrollment form or the returning student registration form. To find those forms, please visit the enrollment webpage. 

Volunteer

Hood River County School District welcomes volunteers to its schools for the upcoming school year. Please visit the volunteer webpage to learn more about the volunteer application process. 

As we approach the start of the school year, please pay close attention to any communication from your neighborhood school. They will provide specific information about the start of the school year that you will want to know.
