Explore Online Learning with Hood River Options Academy

Hood River Options Academy (HROA) offers a flexible, online learning experience for K-12 students in the Hood River County School District (HRCSD), supported by HRCSD-licensed teachers through both online and in-person guidance.

Our Program

At HROA, students complete coursework online while receiving support and instruction from qualified educators. Students are expected to dedicate the same amount of time to their online courses as they would in a traditional classroom.

While much of the learning is asynchronous and self-paced, some courses may require in-person attendance for testing or other academic requirements. Students engage daily through their online learning platforms and are supported by teachers who provide regular check-ins and guidance.

Enrollment Information

Enrollment requests for fall open each May. Please note that enrollment in HROA is limited and may be subject to a lottery system if the number of applicants exceeds available spots.

We encourage families and students to speak with their school counselor or contact HROA directly to explore whether the program is a good fit.

Attendance Expectations

Consistent attendance is key to success in any educational setting, including HROA. Attendance is recorded each scheduled school day and is demonstrated through daily activity within the online platform within a 24-hour window.

HROA students are expected to:

  • Plan and manage their daily schedules effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with staff.
  • Take personal responsibility for staying on track with coursework.

HROA will challenge students to grow in their independence, time management, and academic skills.

For more details, we encourage families to view the HROA Student/Parent Handbook or visit the HROA Website for additional program information and resources.
