Bus Disciplinary Procedures
Students who do not comply with the Bus Conduct Rules are subject to the following consequences and procedures:
Driver shall complete a warning Bus Conduct Report. Student shall have the warning slip signed by parent and school administrator and return it to the bus driver. A copy is filed with the transportation supervisor.
Driver shall complete a Bus Conduct Report. The student is suspended from riding any school buS for three school days.
Driver shall complete a Bus Conduct Report. The student is suspended from riding any school bus for ten school days. Student or parent/guardian may appeal this decision as described in the Hearing/Appeals process below.
Fourth and Subsequent Offenses:
Driver shall complete a Bus Conduct Report. The student is suspended from riding any school bus for a period to be determined by a formal hearing as described in the Hearing/Appeals process below.
A student will be immediately suspended from riding any bus until a formal hearing is conducted for severe disruptions or acts of violence including, but not limited to:
Acts of violence toward other students or bus driver.
Acts of vandalism.
Threats to the health or safety of other students or bus driver.
The student or parent/guardian may request a review of this decision as described in the Hearings/Appeals process below.
The student will receive a copy of the Bus Conduct Report at the time of the incident or as soon as possible. The Bus Conduct Report must be signed by a parent or guardian and school administrator before the student will be allowed to ride the bus. A copy of the report must be filed with the transportation supervisor.
The school administrator shall notify the transportation supervisor if a student with an I.E.P. or behavior plan receives a warning so that if further disciplinary action occurs, proper procedures will be followed.
The student or parent/guardian may request a review of the Bus Conduct Report with the school administrator if the student’s behavior results in a third offense and/or the bus driver suspends the student for a period of ten or more days. The school administrator will forward the request to the transportation supervisor. The school administrator will conduct the hearing and notify the student, parent or guardian, transportation supervisor and/or bus driver of the hearing date. When practical, that hearing will take place within five school days. The decision of the school administrator will be final.
