Thank you for all of your support with staying engaged with our teachers, picking up packets/materials and iPads, all the while doing your best to help your child(ren) at home. We will be continuing with our Monday schedule of packet/material pickup for the foreseeable future for a couple of reasons. First, we are providing printed packets to families who don’t have access to the internet or need/prefer materials be printed at school. Secondly, teachers are continuing to provide classroom materials for their students. We will also be distributing more books to each student as a result of a gift from the Hood River County Library Foundation, who donated $10,000 towards the purchase of books for elementary students in the Hood River County School District. As a result, our teachers are in the process of purchasing books to be given to all of our students. Your child’s teacher will inform you as to when those books will be ready for your child. A huge thank you to the Hood River County Library Foundation for this amazing gift!!!
Teacher Appreciation week begins on Monday, May 4th. This week has always been an opportunity to recognize and share appreciation for our teachers for their dedication and efforts with this challenging, yet rewarding profession. I’ve always been proud of our teachers, their hard work ethic and their compassion for our students and families. I’m even more proud of them after seeing their efforts to come together to support our students and families this past month and a half. I think it’s fitting to also say that at this moment in time, it’s also important to recognize all of your efforts as well given the scenario our parents now find themselves in. So thank you to all, for it truly takes a village.
Stay healthy and well!
At the beginning of the school year, we asked parents to pay a $25 supply fee for student materials/supplies in the classroom and an additional $10 room fee, which is used to pay for admission to field trips/transportation costs. Our school traditionally schedules field trips in the spring and as a result, we haven’t used the room fee money that was collected. Therefore, we are doing the following. All fifth grade parents who paid the $10 room fee will be receiving a check in the mail within the next week or two. The money allocated for kindergarten through fourth grade students will be rolled up to the next grade for the 2020-21 school year. This means parents of kindergarten through fourth grade students who paid the fee this school year will not need to pay a $10 room fee at the beginning of next school year. If you are a parent of a kindergarten through fourth grade student and would prefer to receive the $10 check now, please email email@example.com her of your intentions.
