Finding Rhythm in Nature

Posted by Sarah Lyon on 10/14/2020 12:00:00 PM

Hello Earth Friends!

My heart is full.

Amazing to see everyone in our Google Meets today. I am attaching the slide show HERE to check out if you missed it or want to review.

As a warm-up, we explored the RHYTHM of Paul Simon's Graceland concert in Africa. Students noticed patterns in the landscape, music, clothing, dancing, etc. noting a feeling of energy and vibrancy-- similar to the changing of the seasons right now.

We explored the power of sit spots in understanding nature's rhythms, and then practiced some techniques to capture what we observe through:

-Blind contour drawings

-Gesture drawings

-Detailed diagrammatic drawings

**This week I challenge you to find a sit spot (outside or by a window) and be still for 5-10 minutes. If you are so inclined, record your observations (USE ALL OF YOUR SENSES) in your nature journal including date, time, and place. Then SHARE your observations with Ms. Lyon.

Happy Exploring!!
